How do payments and pricing work?

To travel today we have to navigate and adapt to the obstacles and setbacks caused by COVID-19 and other things. Transparency and flexibility regarding your hard-earned money has never been more important

Do I have to pay a deposit? How much?

If you’re booking a hotel only, the hotel’s own terms will apply, and often they don’t require deposits or prepayments (see penultimate section of this page.)

Packages (e.g hotel + flights/transfers) do require a deposit, which will be a small percentage of the total booking amount. In some circumstances, such as certain villa bookings, cruises, published fare flights and peak season payment terms from our suppliers, a higher deposit may be required. You’ll be advised at the time of booking as to this charge. If, however, your booking is made within 10 weeks of your departure, full payment will be due immediately.

Is the deposit refundable?

In general, no, but in some cases we can offer refunds if you can’t postpone or rearrange your holiday. In a world permanently affected by COVID-19 and at the mercy of political and natural disasters, we understand that circumstances can change quickly. That’s why we’re always as flexible as possible, and we communicate with you openly and honestly at all times.

When is my remaining balance due?

It’s due six to eight weeks before your departure date, though sometimes you may be required to settle the balance earlier. Again, we appreciate that things can change in an instant, so as usual, flexibility and communication are paramount.

How can I pay?

You can pay by bank transfer, cheque or we can send you a secure payment link via email. You can use American Express, credit card or debit card. No matter how many elements your booking has (you may have booked multiple countries, flights, transfers, hotels etc), everything goes through us, so you don’t have to worry about multiple payments.

I’d like to book a hotel only. Who and how do I pay?

The hotel’s own terms will apply, and although we’ll be taking care of everything for you, you’ll pay the hotel directly. Often you won’t owe a penny until you’ve arrived safely at the property, especially if it’s one of our many preferred partner hotels! Sometimes, however, hotels require some sort of deposit or prepayment.

Do you charge a planning fee?

Sometimes. A travel designer provides a professional service that ultimately enriches your life, so for larger more time-consuming enquiries I may charge a small non-refundable retainer fee starting from £99, or $99 for non-UK clients. The amount depends on the exclusive rates, benefits, expertise and support you receive as well as the time taken to create your trip and navigate the uncertainty and obstacles caused by COVID-19. The fee is payable only once your booking is confirmed. Please ask if you’d like to discuss the reasons behind the fee in greater detail.
